DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT: MEET LINDSAY ROSE INTERIORS

This month, we sat down with Lindsay Rose of Lindsay Rose Interiors for a refreshing conversation about how to create stylish spaces designed for everyday living. Lindsay shares her excitement over today’s latest design trends and why designing her favorite room in the house is sparking creativity in her clients. Can you guess which room it is?
Q & A with Lindsay Rose Interiors
Q: How would you describe your signature design style?
A: Modern and transitional. I try to have fun with all of my clients—keeping their spaces up to date, on trend, and fresh—while making sure they can live their everyday lifestyle. We all have kids and pets so we want to be able to make sure our homes look beautiful—but they need to be liveable and cozy.

Q: Is there a particular type of room or space you love designing the most? Why does it resonate with you?
A: The powder room! It is one of the only rooms in the house where you can take a unique tile, funky lighting, and mix it with a fun, high-intense wallpaper. Powder rooms help bring the client’s personality out and allow you to have free reign as a designer.

Q: What is one design trend you’re loving right now? Also, which trend do you think is on its way out?
A: I love that we are moving back into darker woods. I think that we are going to start seeing warmer tones in fabrics and flooring as well. As far as what’s going out, I think white and ivory boule will always be a top choice, but I think colorful and thicker textures will start to come more into play.

Q: What’s your go-to design tip for instantly elevating a space?
A: Wallpaper and lighting! I think they both make a huge difference. Wallpaper can really liven up a room and make it feel fresh and new. Lighting is also always a great way to modernize a space without having to completely change it.

Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to refresh their home but doesn’t know where to start?
A: I think that having one piece of inspiration like carpet or wallpaper is a great place to start and then you work from there. Creating mood boards to lay out the space helps bring everything together and lets you edit as well as create options.
Q: How do you balance aesthetics and functionality when designing for real-life living?
A: I think that you always need to take your clients’ lifestyles into consideration when you design. You have to stay true to your clients’ wants and needs, but you never want to have them invest in something that won’t last in the long run. As a mother of three and a pet owner, we all want to treat our homes like a museum—but we know that’s not feasible or realistic. I make sure that we are always using performance fabrics, vinyl wallpapers, and rugs and carpets that are easy to clean. We want to create a space that looks amazing, but it has to be able to be a place we can enjoy, live, host and—every now and then—spillon!

Q: What design trends are you loving most for spring and summer?
A: Color! I think we are going to start seeing a lot of richer colors—like jewel tones—and they’re going to be everywhere. As much as I love black and white, I think that adding a lot of color will help liven up rooms to create more fun spaces. I also think new neutrals—like taupes, creams and ivories—will be the standard in basics outside of stark white.
