Q: Your portfolio of interior designs is so creative and elegant! How did you get started in the interior design industry?

A: I started by designing my own home. A friend came over and said she loved it and hired me to design her New York City apartment and then her home in the Hamptons. My business evolved from there.

Q: How would you describe your home design style, and what is your favorite?

A: I design all my homes to feel warm, inviting, and uncluttered. For me, less is more. Homes should be clean in their design but have something creative and special in each room that brings them to life.

Q: When designing a room, what is the most important thing you consider?

A: The most important thing I consider when designing is who my client is and how they live. Having to worry about a child or friend damaging a carpet or piece of furniture is stressful for everyone. Understanding a family’s lifestyle is super-important.

Q: Do you have a signature touch that you use in every project?

A: Unique lighting would have to be my signature touch. One cannot help but be drawn to an impactful fixture.

Q: What do you love about being an interior designer?

A: I love the process. Working with clients to create homes that reflect their specific personality and style. Seeing the design from conception to installation. It is amazing to walk into a finished room and see my creative vision come to life.

Q: What are some of your biggest inspirations?

A: Traveling is a big inspiration. Colors, textures, and the way people in other countries live are big sources of inspiration. Additionally, walking the streets and neighborhoods of New York City is always a creative experience: the different neighborhoods, the people, the buildings, the art—inspiration is everywhere!

Q: What design trend(s) are you most excited about using in 2021?

A:  I tend to stay away from trends, as I don’t want clients to feel their homes are dated. Every home has a different personality. I tend to follow my instincts.

Q: What advice would you have for someone who’s starting to think of either a room design refresh or complete home redesign?

A: Understanding what you want to achieve and the budget you want to spend are essential. Browse Pinterest or save pages from a magazine to communicate your new design story. Work with people you trust that understand you and your vision.
